Can FSID just always be on by default? and not show twice if changed?
this can be important at times – and I was also want RMID to show (or something else)
But I definitely want to FSID to always show in the FSC screen.
The RINs and FSID are both showing in your screen shot. If you leave the setting as it is, it shouldn’t change.
Sorry I was not clear but I thought that was obvious
the FSID is NOT on the left side (RM). I am asking the FSID to ALWAYS show on left (RM) side regardless of settings plus whatever is shown in the settings (RMID or Ref etc). Hopefully – that makes sense.
I can see the convenience of having the FSID both places. But it seems to me that the RM person and the FamilySearch person would not be appearing together on this particular screen unless the RootsMagic person had an FSID and unless the FSID in RootsMagic matched the FSID in FamilySearch. My apologies if I am missing something obvious.
However, I have a somewhat similar but not identical situation where I think the FS Central screen could be slightly more helpful. In my screenshot, I happen to know that Pearl Jones and Louetta P. Jones are the same person and need to be merged in FS. I would like to do the merge before matching them to RM because I don’t know until I look which FSID I’m going to keep during the merge in FS. In other cases, I don’t even know that much. I just need to jump to FS to look around.
So in general, what I would like to be able to do is to jump to an FS person before they are matched to RM, just so I can look. As things stand, I can scroll to the right to see the FSID’s in question. But I have to write them down because I cannot even copy them to the clipboard from the FS Central screen. Then I have to logon to FS without using RM and do a search by the FSID (or FSID’s I have written down).
So that’s my wish - to be able to jump to somebody from FS Central to FS before they are matched. I need to look at things in FS before I decide to approve the match or not. One workaround I have used has been to approve the match, jump to the person, and then immediately unmatch. That’s not a very efficient way to work.
one reason I have noticed that the person currently matched might be diff on RM or they have been merged or duplicates etc etc – so having FSID on FSC screen by default would make things easier (at least in my opinion for me). Also might alert person about other things by what you mention above
Click on the magnifier icon next to their name. It will open a compare screen, just like if they were matched. At the top on the FS side is the copy FSID button.

so here might be an example of what I am talking about – (but I do want FSID for my other areas) – this is actually someone elses db I was helping with for other thing

Aha! That does work to copy the FSID from FS. Much thanks for that. I hadn’t noticed that particular magnifier icon.
But it still doesn’t allow me to Jump To the person in FS unless I first do a match. I’m actually finding it easier just to do the match on a speculative basis, and then doing an immediate unmatch if I don’t like what I see in FS. I would also like an easier way to do an unmatch - like right click > Unmatch that just works immediately without any further ado, like bringing up the comparison screen.
I checked and the request for what you wanted with FSID and RINs has been reported to development.
