Color code mix colors?

Ability to color code lines and if they merge 5,6,7 generations back they blend colors or designate a color if they do merge. To give an example if it’s not clear,

I manage my line and my wife’s line. I’m always trying to see if we crossed lines somewhere long ago. It’s hard to tell if you have a big tree and not all children are shown in pedigree chart. I’ve have my parents blue and green. Her parents are red and purple. It would really show up if a yellow appeared. Maybe that’s too difficult to do. Is there a tool/report I could run to see these if they are there?

It’s not exactly what you are looking for, but there is a way to find any crossed lines.

Color your parents blue in color set 2. Color your wife’s parents red in color set 3. This is only using 2 colors instead of 4 for reason. And it will not disturb your existing color coding, assuming your existing color coding is in color set 1.

You won’t be able to see both color set 2 and color set 3 on the screen at the same time. But you could do an Advanced Search for somebody who was color coded blue in color set 2 AND who was color coded red in color set 3. Any matches would be your common ancestors, and a lack of matches would tell you there were no common ancestors.

Create a group for each parents ancestors. Go to the Tools page and under Group Tools select ”Combine and manipulate groups”. Select Group A and Group B and for Function select “in both group A and group B”, and click “Run selected tool”. Name the new group. The new group will contain common ancestors which you can then color code as a group.

Renee’s suggestion is a good one.

You can use RM to color code people, and then make groups from the color coding.

You can use RM to make groups, and the color code from the groups.

It’s sort of six of one and a half dozen of the other which approach is best for any given situation. I have done it both ways.

Thank you both for the suggestions. Renee’s suggestion worked easier for me. No crossed lines.
