Good evening, I’m using RootsMagic 9, and have noticed that some of my records appear to be duplicated when viewed in the “People” List, I have a person name, such as myself and below it is a duplicated record with the exception of the name, which is shown as an asterix, everything else is the same, including the record number, Is there a reason for this, and can I get rid of the duplication? this does not happen to all the records in my tree.
It’s not a major problem, and if I have to live with it, then so beit.
Are you talking about the “Index” on the side? if so, make sure that it is not a + you are seeing which represents use of an alternate name for the individual. Embedding a picture of what you are seeing would be helpful if not an alternate name.
It sounds like you may have alternate names showing. Click on the 3 dot menu at the top of the People View or the sidebar Index and unselect “Show alternate names”.
