What is Causing This

Just installed RM 11 — copied and opened 3 databases-- when using the new Life Summary I am seeing these lines that I didn’t see in Bruce’s videos–in front of the m for marriage, England, marriage date etc

They seem to come and go–some people will have them and the next MIGHT not-- go back to the previous one that had it and it MIGHT be gone BUT will show up again if you click on someone else and come back..

Thought maybe it was because I had my screen down sized to abt half BUT get the same on a full screen.

I had web hints turned on for a while and when I click on the light bulb, the lines went away BUT as I said would eventually come back..
Anybody else notice this or are the gremlins just bugging me :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

RM 11 version 11.0.1.0 Windows 11 32 bit no synching to any cloud service and no dual monitors

Not a big problem–just annoying

Since it comes & goes, it might be your video driver.

if you are able to capture this behavior in a video RM Team might be able to determine the cause. By what you describe it could be some sort of artifact from display driver. Do you use two monitors? Windows or Mac? What OS version What is the video card? I have reported this one it seems to have not happened to me with RM10. When you close RM11 it leaves a window frame artifact after you close window. Actually, I can not even screenshot it (only video it using non windows capture).

Event in past versions I have see one time screen/display artifacts that were not repeatable. If you are able to repeat that might be helpful to RM team so they can fix

RM 11 version 11.0.1.0 Windows 11-- 32 bit no synching to any cloud service and no dual monitors–also added the 64 bit version last night-- happens on both versions–did a lot of testing on the video drivers and it says it’s working just fine --Intel (R) UHD Graphics 630

Any way to experiment with unlinking the media image, to see if that is affecting pixels?

Or maybe try changing Windows Start Menu > Display settings? Scale or Resolution

I have seen some of those lines in various places. I’m trying to watch for when they appear and then check what my computer resources are doing. I haven’t seen them for a bit though.

@rzamor1 --this happens in all 3 databases I moved to RM 11 and it is consistently there-- might disappear if I click on something like the light bulb or a problem alert BUT returns as soon click on them again-- computer resources don’t change and are not running high

@kbens0n actually that picture is the only media item I have in all 3 databases–so that didn’t work BUT a good idea–I tried changing the resolution and that didn’t help-- tried changing the scale from 100 to 125 and that does seem to have fixed the problem–will let you know if it comes back

@nkess, You have the faint lines at the start and end of the text field. I had the line at the end of the field but not at the front. Otherwise it seemed to act as yours does. I made a change to the display custom scaling in windows 11 and it seemed to clear the lines. At least it has so far, we will see. The change was going from 110 to 120 in the custom scaling setting. You have to sign out the user and sign back in to make the change take effect.

Additional info: I changed the custom scaling back to 100 because the 110 and 120 is a bit to large for my taste and the lines came back to the right hand side of the fields on my display. So it looks like it has something to do with screen settings unless someone else can come up with another idea. It seems we had some kind of scaling problem before version 11 came out, but I don’t remember the details. I think it had something to do with text not completely displaying in a field if the text size or a scaling setting was too large. By the way, I’m using the 32 bit RM.

Font scaling, that’s what I had changed. I used to have it set at 105 and then went back to 100. I checked and now it has to be up to 131 for me to see the lines. I’m not sure why we see it at different scales. I checked and theme contrast doesn’t seem to make a difference with the scaling. I have reported it to development.

@rzamor1, Sounds like you are changing the RM font scaling setting. I was changing the Win 11 custom scaling in the display settings. It may be that any kind of scaling settings may cause the problem. Actually I don’t mind the lines, they don’t bother me much.

Like @cweese I also changed the computer’s scale to 125-- and they disappeared BUT don’t like running the computer on 125, so changed it back–didn’t think abt changing RM’s font scaling-- mine was set at 100, so changed it to 125 and they disappeared again-- kind of strange , you get them at 131 and I get them a 100 and mine disappear at 125

Yes, I’m changing the font scaling inside RM. I haven’t touched my computer scaling at all.
