Maybe somebody can offer some guidance to return some WebHints functionality that seems to have recently changes.
Until recently if I opened an Ancestry WebHint it would show (if available) a selection of associated records and until recently typically kinks to 3 “Other Users Trees” a feature that I often found very, helpful. However I’ve realised that recently I only get a link to just 1 single tree, even in cases where many trees are available.
Has anyone else notices this and more importantly can this feature be reinstated?
Seems strange. If you have the setting set for Show Other Member Trees, it should display multiple trees if they are relevant. I show as many as 12 trees in the Ancestry WebHints box. This is the setting.
Thanks for the prompt reply and yes everything is configured correctly and as you suggest. I’ve tried the only solution I can think of i.e. turning “Show Other Members Trees” OFF and then turning it off again but no change.
Do RM support monitor this website? Looks like I need help
When you look online at the person’s hints do the other trees show? If the other user has deleted or marked their tree private they will no longer show.
Exactly the same with the online tree, most of the hints in my tree of 4.000 plus have a reference to a members tree but only ever 1, whereas I used to have 3 ,though never more than that. I’d understand it more if I didn’t have any, verry strange will escalate to RM support though as this issue appears to be an Ancestry issue I’ll try them as well.
I’m getting very confused, can somebody verify that RM used to offer a maximum of 3 links to other members trees I’m absolutley certain that that’s what I had till recently. But now it’s looking like that feature has disapeared for everyone, I’ve spoken to several users and it now looks like we are now limited to a single Members Tree Link, this is the same whether you access the hints directly via the Ancestry web page or with RM s o as RM only reads Ancestry data, the change must be at their end.
Note I’m fully aware that these hints are not available if teh tree owner hass marked them Private or deleted them, this is not the cause of this issue I’ve just checkd 100+ hints with links to members trees ALL of them only had a single link.
Now I’m even nore confused, in 10+ years I never had more that 3 links to another member’s tree. Let’s hope somebody inthe know can tell us what is going on
When I view the hints in RM I have 3 member trees showing. When I look online at the Ancestry Hints only 1 member tree is showing. I checked “View online” for those missing and it takes me to the trees on Ancestry. So they were not private or a phantom. Not sure what’s up with Ancestry but they must be making some type of change over there.
If I remember correctly Member Trees showed as one hint online. When you clicked on it you could see all the Member Trees. Now I just found the one member tree amongst the other hints. While going back and forth that one member tree showing came up blank when reviewed. Then went I went back to look at all hints it switched to a different single member tree. The hint has disappeared in RM and on Ancestry. Not sure what to make of all of this, but I feel confident its not RM with the issue. I looks like Ancestry is working on things.
