On a Mac, I’m getting this error every time I try to add/open a PDF file.
The file “XXX.pdf” couldn’t be opened because you don’t have permission to view it.
To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info.
I’ve done that, change permissions for all users to Read & Write, but still cannot open file. Is this a know problem? Is there a workaround?
I don’t have any issues opening pdf files on mac. My only suggestion would be to test placing a pdf on your desktop or in your download directory – somewhere that had a better chance having gained appropriate file permissions – and see if you can convince yourself it’s a mac file permission issue. you may want to have a look here ==> Control access to files and folders on Mac - Apple Support
Using the link from the other responder showed that my mac under security and privacy files/folders has documents and downloads checked for RM8 and FTM and I have no problem with pdfs.
I did try copying the file to Downloads and that worked fine.
Then I followed the instructions and checked the Privacy & Security setting and it was already set for RM access, but I’m wondering if it might have something to do with RM7 v. RM8? Anyway, I unchecked it, re-checked it and quit RM and restarted. Now it seems to be working ok. But just to be safe I gave RM8 full disk access.
I think now that I was not properly choosing the “media type”!
