I am using TreeShare to gain access to the Ancestry Hints. On one family record it indicates 15 Hints. Only 13 are shown on the hints page. I have processed each of those 13 into either Accepted or Rejected. Close the window. Hints in the persons pedigree still shows 15 with 2 pending. Revisit the clearing page - no sign of the 2 Pending hints? Also, if I click on the 13 Accepted, or 2 Pending, etc underlined number, it always returns all the hints 13 hints.
Is this a bug? or and Ancestry problem?
Sounds like phantom records. That happens when collections and trees are removed on Ancestry and elements remain. Ancestry has told us to delete the Ancestry person and add them back again. Then it should generate hints without the phantoms.
Another possibility is you have a “Stories, Memories & Histories” hint on the Ancestry tree that is a multipage doc. Ancestry is not sending them through their API for us to receive them.
Thanks for the info, but it raises another question. If Ancestry has phantom records and docs that Ancestry is not sending through, how come RM knows about them and adds them into the counts? Surely RM should disregard them if they are not coming down through the API, instead of accepting their count, and reduce the count in RM?
Your question has two different scenarios mingled together. Phantom records have nothing to send us, but they are sending us the counts because an artifact remains on Ancestry. Ancestry didn’t clean it properly. The “Stories, Memories & Histories” do have something on Ancestry but Ancestry can’t send it to us because its a multiple paged doc. Both of these issues are on the Ancestry side that RM has no control over. We can only show you what the Ancestry API gives us.
