QNs about synching with ancestry

I have had a recurrent issue with synching RootsMagic with Ancestry that has existed from version 7 through 10 and only occurs occasionally. I’ll describe it then ask a question.

I have a large tree (approx 100,000) people that is synched with an Ancestry tree. On some occasions I will be working in RootsMagic - maybe with a separate web browser window where I am viewing FamilySearch, or MyHeritage or another site and adding people to my RootsMagic DB. So I will reach a point where maybe I have added a few hundred people to RootsMagic and decide its time to “catchup” the Ancestry tree…

I will click Command Pallette → TreeShare or Ancestry , then select “Only show changed people”. At this point I will see a list of people with the medium green colored icon in the left column, indicating that these RootsMagic people are not yet connected to anyone in the ancestry tree. I will click the “Add” button and the person gets added to the Ancestry tree and disappears from the list of changed people.

Now here’s the problem. Occasionally someone won’t disappear from the list of changed people. I might press “Add” three times and get three copies of the person added to ancestry - but without them disappearing from the list of changed people. At this point I have a workaround - press the delete button to remove them from my RootsMagic tree and manually merge the duplicate people that I added to Ancestry.

Do others see this issue?

I haven’t seen that reported. Sounds like the screen isn’t refreshing. I would note which person you were working on and then close TreeShare. Reopen to let it reload and see if they now appear matched.

So when I reopen Tree Share I see that, from the perspective of RootsMagic, the person appear in the list of changed people twice, once for the RM side and once for the Ancestry side and isnt linked. Note that when I do this operation I have the checkbox “Only show changed people” selected

When you have only the list of changed people showing you may not see the whole picture. Uncheck the box to only show changed people. See if you have duplicates on either side. Merge them either in RM or on Ancestry. Then make sure you use the link option instead of add.
