MacBook Pro M1 Tahoe RM11 Backup

Backup under RM10 was 223.6 MB for about 26,000 folks. Same database under RM11 is now 6.11 GB in size. Neither backup includes the media files. What is the difference between the two? Takes a lot longer to do the backup now (I use the date in the name). Did it both under Sequoia and Tahoe. Help!!! Marian Fletcher

At the risk of temporarily using up over 6GB of disk space you don’t need to use up, could you make a temporary copy of your 6GB RM backup file and rename the file from *.rmbackup to *.zip? That’s what an RM backup file is anyway — a zip file with a different extension. Then look at the *.zip file with a zip utility to see what’s inside. Hopefully, you will see the problem at that point. Then delete the *.zip file to recover your disk space.

Good idea - will try that tomorrow. Marian

Changed the file name from **.rmbackup to *.*zip and sure enough it was backing up my media files in addition to RM11 executable. Need to report this to Support as Back up Media files was not Checked to do this. Thanks for the suggestion Jerry!

Also on M1 and backup works as expected for me. Before you report it, you might want to see if you can duplicate the problem.

Glad it is working for you… I can duplicate problem all the time - reported to Support.
