Hi, I have a fact type that I created incorrectly and now need to go back and find all of the places where that fact was used so that I correct them. I can’t seem to find a way to locate all of the individuals for whom this Fact Type was used. I tried using Find Everywhere using the Fact Type name, but no results are returned for that search. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

Either use advanced search or create a group with the “data field criterium”

Follow RichardOtter’s directions to find all instances of the fact. But I wonder if you really need to do that. For example, I’m wondering if you could fix the problem all in one go by changing the definition of the fact type. Or I’m wondering if you could fix the problem all in one go be using RM’s Search and Replace tool.
To that end, how did you create the fact incorrectly? And what are you having to do to each instance of the fact to correct the problem?
@dlmuntz1 you did NOT say what version of RM you are using…
If you created, a fact from scratch such say as a 1841 U K Census what you could do is just edit the fact itself changing the fact sentences, rolls etc…
Once changed, all the people you used it on would be updated to the new fact info–only problem being is if you shared the fact and wanted to change from a witness roll to something like son/ dau— those would have to be changed on an individual basis…
If however you created a fact and you can NOT simply correct it, then I would change the name of the incorrect fact to something like 1841 UK Census 2 ( or even delete)— create a new fact with the correct name/ info and use TOOLS ( on left side) —use Change FACT TYPE FOR EVERYONE-- put the incorrect fact in the 1st box and the corrected fact in the second box–hit ok --note when you hit okay, it acts like nothing happened BUT it has been changed-- just check out a few people-- then you can delete the incorrect fact BUT you can only do this in RM 9 and RM 10-- RM 8 and before have to be manually fixed…
Thanks Richard! That worked. I always forget about the advanced search functionality. Fortunately only about 19 people with this errant fact. Should be fairly easy to correct.
Hi Jerry,
Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I created a fact that intended to be a family fact, but was created as a personal fact. I know you can’t change between the two, so my only option I think is to find them, delete them, and replace them with a family fact.
Yes. The best you can do is find each person for whom the fact occurs, one fact at a time, and then to do the manual add of the new fact and the delete of the old fact.
