Good genealogy requires consistent data. That concept is universal. Every aspect of your work should be singular and consistent.
There already exists the ability to merge potentially duplicate people, duplicate sources, or duplicate citations. This capability needs to be extended to places and media, and any aspect of relationships between these components.
You can already merge places, exact duplicate or otherwise. But it’s a manual process, not an automatic one.
The real problem with media is that RM should prevent duplicates in first place. If you do an Add Media => Add New Media it adds the media file a second time even if it’s already there.
Unlike RM7 as we previously determined. If 7 can do it, then the latter version should be able to do it.
