Delete media, sources, places when no longer linked to anything

I am not sure everyone will understand what you mean or want, The new rules has been a long awaited giant leap. Can you explain further what you mean?

I am sorry for any confusion, but I have had some major computer problems and this is not a priority for me right now. But I don’t understand why anyone would want media, sources, and places to stay in their tree when they were not in use by anyone.

To have them readily available, at the typing of a few letters or a few mouse clicks, without having to go through the process of re-adding them. Kinda like having a dictionary for spellcheck.

For media, You can list and know all the items in your collection. Places and sources would show areas you’ve researched or found information related to your ancestry.

Personally, I don’t like the clutter or the waste of disk space. I’ve got over 35,000 media files. Some (far too many) are duplicates, but I don’t have the time to relink and delete the dupes. Sources and place names are easy enough to merge, but sometimes I think they unmerge while I’m not looking

Please disregard my initial partial post. I don’t know how it even got here. I was typing into the SQL for Rootsmagic forum and must have accidentally copied and pasted a portion on this page. That happens when I stay up all night doing genealogy ha ha!

understood – I think there should be a way to the things you describe when/if needed. However – definitely not by default.
