Editing a Narrative Report

I am reviewing a Narrative Report to check I’m happy with how it comes out (basically a combination of RM’s fact sentences and the notes I’ve added). Is there any way I can change some text without having to first close down the Report? I’m not re-formatting the presentation , just amending the text. Currently I have to close the Report, make the change in the person’s Edit Screen, and then re-run the Narrative Report again.

I would save it as Word or Text file and edit it there.

Thanks MadDog, clearly I could do that but that’s just a workaround. Ideally I’d like to have some type of non-modal Narrative Report window which could be left open whilst I make changes to the underlying data in another window, and then see those changes automatically updated in the report. I tagged my OP as both a question and a feature request because I’d like to see a dynamic solution within RM, but I’m simply not tech enough to know if that’s even possible!

The feature you request is not supported in RM.

I do save RM’s reports as *.docx files and edit them using Microsoft Word before printing. But doing so is only for formatting purposes. I don’t change any of the content. If I want to change content, I go back into RM, change the content, and regenerate the report.

I have occasionally coveted a new feature in RM which in my mind I have called Report View. I would switch from things like Family View or Pedigree View to Report View and just edit various stuff — names, places, dates, notes, sources, citations — just anything, really. RM would then store my edits back into the RM database as if I had entered them in the Edit Person screen. It would be a very difficult feature to create, and such a feature is not currently supported.
