I normally run with Show Relative Events turned off, but I have it on tonight, only showing parent events.
I have a couple who were married in 1980 and their child was born in 1981. The couple’s marriage does not show up on the child’s Edit Person screen. I’m sure that’s by design and is the correct behavior because the couple’s marriage was before the child’s birth.
The couple divorced in 1983. The divorce does not show up on the child’s Edit Person screen. I’m not sure if that’s a bug or if that is by design. I wonder if marriages are intended to show up and divorces are not. In this case, it would have been very helpful to me for the divorce to show up on the child’s Edit Person screen. I had to switch to the mother’s Edit Person screen to see when the divorce was.
The mother remarried in 1985. The marriage does show up on child’s Edit Person screen. The woman’s second husband was also linked to the child as a stepfather. I don’t know if the marriage showed up because of the mother or because of the stepfather. It shows up on the Edit Person screen as Marriage-Father and the father in question would have been the stepfather.
So that’s the tip and the question and the feature request. The divorce does not show up on the child’s timeline. Is that a bug or a feature? And I request that it show up under the circumstances I described.
P.S. I checked several other people, and it appears that divorce does not show up on the timeline of the children, even when the parent event option is enabled.
