Maybe I am missing something but I find it very time consuming entering shared DNA matches when the list of possible shared matches is sorted by surname, first name(s) and then label name. When looking at Ancestry for example, DNA matches use user names (which I record as the label name), which may or may not be their proper name (or surname when born)… For example, when their user name is A265Frd it is very difficult to find them in the list of possible shared matches in RM 10.0.1.0
It would be ideal to have the option to choose to display either their name or label first, or alternatively have an additional column for their label which could be sorted.
Understand what you are saying and how you were dealing with it BUT @MKGT now that you have to record a name with the newest version of RM 10-- what name are you going to use for someone like A265Frd?
Not that I would but RM will accept that as a name! If for example A265Frd’s name was Angela CHEWIN obviously I would record as such with her label as the user name. But when trying to work with Ancestry I would be generally looking at user names initially and comparing them to available shared matches.
Add the test name as an alternate name fact for the Person. On the Add DNA Match screen the option to show Alternate Names is in the lower left corner. Once you have selected the correct person add their label. Then the name and (label) both appear in the list.
Thanks, but that is another layer of data entry. My original request stands for consideration please.
