After 40 plus years of importing, downloading and reinstalling. PAF, TMG, FTM and RM to name a few. I now have multiple persons with multiple RIN’s for the same person thru out the databases. Is there a easy way to deleting 10-20 RIN’s of the same person at the same time in RM 10? Something like cut + delete. Thanks, TJ
Hot keys are really lacking for RM 10
I realize it’s a daunting task, but it will need to be done manually. There is not a way to delete 10-20 multiple RIN’s at the same time as you suggest.
I really recommend merging the duplicates rather than deleting the duplicates. It may be a bit of extra work sometimes, but it makes sure that some critical information such as a citation is not lost.
But back to your original question, RM now has the ability to delete everyone in the same group, all in one go. So what you could do is to make a group called To Be Deleted or some such, put your duplicates into the group, and then delete everybody in the group. You would need to open each duplicate person and add them to the group manually. It’s one click to add a person to a group manually after you have opened their Edit Person screen. It’s still manual, but it might (or might not!) be easier than all the manual deletes. If you should choose to go this route, I would suggest giving your group To Be Deleted a name that sorts it to the front of the list of groups, like put a special character at the front of the name of the group or something like that.
In any case, be sure you have good backups before you start your delete process or your merge process.

This is the way I’ve been deleting people from my databases:
people view line view + select person & highlight + double click to go to the edit screen & check records + exit to bring you back to the people line view + click on trash can to delete or select new person + from trash can to click to delete person + OK to delete person + click to OK + person has been deleted + select a new person
not Jerry but do want to mention that you MIGHT get an argument out of range error after deleting so many people–typically happens between 650-1000 clicks.. If you do get one–just close RM down and reopen again —and you will be good to go–never lost any info because of it- more of an annoyance than anything–one work around would be to do abt 50 or so people-- close and SAVE and start again
