Is there a way to copy color coding, health histories or groups from one RM 10 database to a new RM 10 database. I have downloaded a new Ancestry database because I had too many errors in the one that I was working with. But, I do not want to have to redo all of the groups, color coding and health histories if I don’t have to. Is there a way to copy from one RM database to the new one?
Thank you,
Mary
In the case of groups and color coding, the answer is no. I have much experience with these.two features of RM so I’m pretty sure I know the answer. The only suggestion I can make in general with using these two features is to try to make the way you use them to be rules based. That way, you don’t have to go to each person to put them into a group or to color code them. The only thing you have to do is to enter your rules and then re-apply your rules.
In the case health histories, I believe the answer is no. But I have no experience yet using RM’s new health histories feature. From what I know about the health histories feature, I can’t think of any way to make it rules based. You pretty much would have to go to each person and re-enter the data. For whatever reason, tracking health histories is not high in my priority list for things I want to track in genealogy. But if it were, I think I would look at something like making a custom Health History fact and I would enter the data that way. By making it a fact, I could copy people with a Health History fact to another database and then merge them in to that other data base. I have no idea how using a Health History fact would compare to RM’s actual health histories feature. I suspect it would not be as convenient and useful as the actual feature. But without experience with the feature, I really don’t know for sure.
as JerryBryan said… not in the current (or previous versions). Displaying multiple colors at same time (anything more than one) within RM interface is no possible at this time. Only (my) speculation by it possible they do not want to too closely resemble one of their competitors. Something like a row of 10 icons might work. I know many user would welcome being able to see more than one a time.
