Can the RootsMagicApp running on an iPad view a RM10 version?
And does the file still need to be in DropBox not OneDrive?
In RM10 go to File, Export Data to save it to Dropbox. It will add it with the correct .rmgc file that the RM App for iOS needs.
Yes. It will not work with OneDrive and it still works with Dropbox.
You cannot simply store a copy of your RM10 database in Dropbox and have it work in the iPad/iPhone app. That’s because the iPad app only supports an RM7 database. Instead, you need to use the File > Export Data > Dropbox process that Renee described. It will export your RM10 database in an RM7 format that’s usable by the iPad/iPhone app. It will also place the RM7 format file in the correct place in Dropbox so that the iPad/iPhone app for RM can find it.
In case you are wondering, the RM7 database that’s created by File > Export Data > Dropbox is not usable by the real RM7 software on your main computer. It is only usable by the iPad/iPhone app.
If you use ancestry their excellent free iPad app will let you view your trees and edit them. The iOS RM app is very old, requires special exporting as Jerry indicated and is only a viewer.
