Bookmarks Extra Click & Mystery Column

Just playing around with Bookmarks and have a couple of comments : .

In the Bookmarks list, to go to a partixular person, it seems you have to first highlight the name of the person you want and then click the ‘Go’ > button next to their name. In the Index list or History list just highlighting the name takes you straight to that person. So, why is a second click necessary in Bookmarks?

Also, if I position the <—> cursor over the ‘Name’ label in the Bookmarks header row and drag to the right, a new first column appears containing a number. This column has no header label so I don’t know what this number represents. Anyone got any ideas?

Neither of these things are that important, just a little puzzling!

Likely because it has to accomodate Delete (trash can icon), else you couldn’t remove anyone except the topmost.

I can get the double-arrow while hovering the header Name/Go divider, but can’t drag that divider R or L within RootsMagic 9. The Go column is “fixed” in place and width. Only the sidebar slider has an effect and that only upon the Name column width.

You can get the hidden first column in the index or bookmark display. Hold the cursor on the column separator line next to the “N” in “Name” in the header. If you drag the column separator line in the header to the right, the hidden first column will show. It contains a 1 for primary names and a 0 for alternate names. This has been reported before.

Checked this out on my v10 and got a couple of “9” in the hidden column.

Double clicking on the person’s name doesn’t take you to them - does nothing.

There are actually two hidden columns. one is for the color coding values and the other is for primary or alternate name. See my original posting from three years ago.
