Ancestry Treeshare not working on M4 mac

Gedcoms from FTM 2019 and 2024 imported to RM10:

  1. files get a double extension in name .rmtree.rmtree
  2. files uploaded to ancestry work if tiny (50 people) but not for a 400 person tree. Latter file has no people on the ancestry website and on RM 10 you get an endless locked up retry screen with a 20 second countdown.
  3. all software current and 1GB internet service.
  4. FTM sync currently fine.
  5. The new small file tree on ancestry has lots of hints but none show in the RM10 tree.
    I don’t use treeshare for download/merging but would like the hints back again.

The failed upload puts a tree on ancestry with no people and locks you into a loop to select the missing root person. The only way to delete the tree is to go into your account and select the tree for deletion.

Rooty, I know this is not what you want to hear, but I first reported this back in 2023 under version 9. It still has not been addressed.

Maybe someone knows more on Mac related issues.
Not sure what options you have tried on FTM when export Gedcom
(its been awhile since I have done that)

My questions is - if you are able to sync FTM to ANC - why not just download ANC to RM10?
GEDCOMS can have some losses . I recall hearing some very long notes might cause issues.

You can potentially sync both RM10 and FTM (though I do not know if I would go that route).
I would download once from ANC to RM10 and then make RM10 my main database but thay would depend on what you want to do with FTM.

Kevin: tried your idea to download a FTM tree on ancestry to RM10. Got a read only file with the double extension but when closed and reopened could use it. However half the media would not relink probably due to garbage file names from ancestry.
an upload of a 400 person file does work IF I exclude media and sources. This gets a people list which can show hints but no media or sources on ancestry.

Not sure you downloaded the correct method (through RM10 other versions should be similar)

Yes did this.
RM 10 on M4 MBA is very flaky. It locks up in searches, in switching screens or closing them or just quits. Had not seen this behaviour on M2 MBA. Suspect a universal code version may be needed for mac users with current systems. Treeshare linkage requires several attempts before it works. Family search connection is fine. I would like to use FTM with RM while searching in RM to flip back to person event and media screens but RM is just too unreliable now.

I did a fresh install and redid settings which did not help in any way.

wow I am surprised and not sure why that is you experience. Maybe someone with Mac can help – not sure what/why M2 MBA vs M4 would make.
