Reducing errors with RM and FamilySearch

Just now I was adding somebody to FamilySearch and it says, POSSIBLE MATCHES and there was another female born the same year but with different parents. Whenever POSSIBLE MATCHES includes anybody already on Family Tree, you need a prominent message in the end-user’s face saying that THE COMPUTER SELECTED SIMILAR PERSON(S) BUT THE SERVER IS NOT MAGIC. YOU MUST LOOK CLOSELY AND SEE IF ANY OF THEM ARE REALLY THE SAME PERSON AS THE ONE YOU ARE ENTERING. RED BACKGROUND MEANS THAT INFORMATION DOES NOT MATCH. YELLOW BACKGROUND INDICATES THAT THE INFORMATION MAY BE CLOSE ENOUGH. GREEN BACKGROUND INDICATES THAT INFORMATION MATCHES. BE CAREFUL NOT TO MESS UP SOMEBODY ELSE’S PROFILE.
.
A message like that popping up will help reduce the amount of wrong information attached to somebody on FamilyTree.

I respectfully disagree with the proposed solution, although I totally understand and agree with the problem. After seeing this message and discarding it a few times, most users would ignore it thereafter. It would just become an annoyance associated with using RM and FamilySearch together.

Show it once per RM session just so the beginners understand. Where RM says “Possible matches” modify it to says Possible (underscored) matches.

…or people just need to pay attention to what they are doing. There is a limit to how much we have to be reminded to not do stupid stuff.

Whenever you add someone to FamilySearch the Possible Matches screen comes up. It’s up to the user to review and make sure they are not adding duplicates to FamilySearch. Click on the magnifying glass icon to compare the RM and FS persons side by side. Colors are already being used. I suppose I don’t understand needing another message to make sure you are matching or adding correctly. This is all part of the research process, analyzing any hints or suggestions out there.

I understand & agree that the RM & FS treeshare screen can be confusing and misleading at times. I agree with with @kfunk & @thejerrybryan said. The bottom line is the use needs to take responsibility and understand what they are doing. The scenarios behind the scenes are bit more complicated.

That said – I think the documentation could be improved (vs popup message). Also a more advanced video of how to use FamSearch with RM would be helpful. It should also cover best practices and recommended “DO’s” and “Don’ts” Other than basic video I really have not see a video covering in depth what happens when you do many things.
