Reconnect Ancestry tree

I have incorrectly disconnected my RootsMagic database from the Ancestry Tree. I have searched in vain for a way to reconnect the existing database to the existing Ancestry Tree, but the only options seem to be to create a new database from the Ancestry tree, or to create a new tree from the RM database, neither of which is what I need.

Has anybody been able to achieve this?

Would restoring a backup have the desired effect? This would not be ideal as I would need to reapply changes made in RM since I broke the Ancestry link, but if its the only option…

Backup is the only option other than downloading your tree into a new database.

And, you could save your current unlinked RM file and change the file name. Then, after completing the restore of your earlier backup that was linked to Ancestry, use the RM “compare” option with the two files to update Ancestry linked file with the “new” records.

Thanks for your replies chaps. I have restored from a backup and was delighted to find that it had restored my link.
Only issue now is to find the changes - I did try the database compare, but it bombed out with an exception part way through. Not a huge database. about 2000 people, and the backup I used was from about 3 weeks ago, so I assume it’s the same version of RM10. I’ll treat the exception as a different issue and find the changes another way.
Thanks again for you help.

In the Family View, add the Column “Last Edited” to show when you worked on the people.

@Schizo999 --you MIGHT try compare databases again-- as it could have been just a fluke…

BUT first I would open both databases and run all the tools ( tools on left side— first 4 under database tools)-- then close both databases and restart the computer…

The option to customize columns in RootsMagic10 is in the People List, not Family View. It is now called “Date edited” not “Last edited”.

So why didn’t you post this to the OP prior to my post? 3 years since your last post wow. Thanks for the correction.

Is also available via a Custom Report field for column use.

Thanks, all, for your input - I have now resolved the issue. Great tip on ‘Date Edited’ - regardless on what it’s called!
