Printing all Sentence Templates for review? (RM8 but maybe 10?)

Still working on cleaning up a TMG transfer in to RM8 (with eventual move to RM10 after all cleanup complete).
I need to print out a list of all Sentence Templates in RM8 so that I can review errors from TMG import, and especially, so I can discern patterns in errors - and then determine proper measures to correct them. Going Fact by Fact and Individual Sentence by Individual Sentence for each Role is far too time consuming. I want to be able to see a list of all Sentence Templates as a whole, in one run, to help me see patterns of errors and also to allow easier comparison to original sentences in TMG. Is there any way to get a printout of all Sentence Templates - as Templates - w/in RM8 (or if need be, RM10)?

No, there is no such report in RM. You can export a list of custom templates to a file and open it with a text editor but it is hard to read because it’s in XML data format. A XML reader would help but it will remain challenging.

Thank you. Disappointed but not surprised and I appreciate the options you’ve provided. Will have to try them out.

Oh, but I need help. Could you tell me how to do the Export List of Custom Templates? I’m still new enough with RM that I’m not sure where to find that, and I’ve tried the Search Help option within RM8. Is this a RM10 only feature? I’m still doing all of my cleanup in RM8 before converting to RM10. The only option I found in RM8 is under the File menu: Export Data: with just 3 options: Ancestry; GEDCOM; and Dropbox. [side note - curious I can’t Export to a File on my hard drive!] Thank you for any assistance

If you are intent on upgrading to RM10 and not migrating to some other software instead, why clean up in RM8 first? Do the cleanup in RM10 for which you will have more features, fixes to some of the bugs in RM8 and broader support from fellow users.

In RM10, the Source Templates pane has Export on the menu bar.

OK, thanks Tom - but I’m looking for a way to print/gather Sentence Templates on Facts - not Source Templates.
And the reason I haven’t just immediately gone in to RM10 at this point is that I am so intermittent on my genealogy work, that I come and go over the course of months — is I forget what I’m doing and how. I want to minimize my learning curve at this point. I’m also still at the point (because it is TMG) that I am still have to switch back and forth between the two programs. So, make changes in TMG, reimport, see how they translate to RM8, evaluate, go back to TMG make more changes, reimport, etc. So just trying to be consistent in what I’m looking at.

Sorry I veered off into Sources. I don’t think there is any report or similar export tool for Fact Types that would help you. You might be able to find them in a RM GEDCOM export with the option of RM Extra Details enabled. The only other I can think of is to use SQL queries on the database with a sqlite3 manager.

A decade or so back during the first wave of TMG emigres to RM, I authored this:
https://sqlitetoolsforrootsmagic.com/tmg-rm-fact-sentence-tweaks/
and later this:
https://sqlitetoolsforrootsmagic.com/tmg-rootsmagic-sentence-variables-format-codes/
They may need modification to work with RM8 or later databases.

You could develop other queries for your special needs.

WOW!!! Yes, I think your sentence variables format codes might be nearly exactly what I was looking for! (at least, if I can’t get that full printout I was wanting.) Having a crosswalk like what you have developed is very very helpful!!!
Looks like there are a lot of other resources there that will be very helpful as well. Too bad I didn’t know about this sooner. I admit I’m a little scared (and completely ignorant) of SQLite - but think I will have to learn, given your offerings.
This and many other reasons is why I have continued to put off giving up on TMG entirely. It still (mostly) remains the best option for me. No matter what program I’ve tried to move to, I spend an inordinate amount of time doing checks and fixes, instead of actual genealogy. I’ve literally been at this off an on since 2017. I’ll try a littiel while, then decide to give up and stay w/TMG. Then decide oh, RM has some really great tools and DNA and integration w/ Ancestry , etc etc etc – but then I get thwarted again and give up. Till I decide to try again in 6 to 9 mos. or a year.
I’m really hopeful, this time. I do feel like my imports are getting better. And with your listing of TMG to RM codes - maybe I will stand a chance this time. Thank you for these links and the other resources you have on your website! I’m much more optimistic now!

Of course there is no option to move/TreeShare DNA from Ancestry, so you will be stuck with a ton of data entry, at least until Ancestry decides to make it part of their API.
