Over the years I’ve fallen into the habit of “just typing” the name of witnesses when I don’t know or believe they are genealogically significant. Later I realize they are worthy of additional research, but they don’t exist in the database, such that I can record information about them. I’m not even sure how to identify typed names in roles without looking them up one by one to determine their presence or absence in the people index. Does anyone have thoughts on how one might go about “promoting” these named individuals to full persons in the database?
To “promote” them, you have to find them, delete the “just names” share, and add a real share to a real person. There is no way to find them short of the eyeball.
RM11 does have a new feature in Advanced Search where you search people based on roles. I haven’t played with it much, but it’s hard to see how you could find non-people using Advanced Search. There may be a way to find the non-people that I haven’t figured out yet, but I doubt it.
