I am going through UK Electoral Rolls. One person is detailed with say ABC surname. But also there are 3 other people with the same surname detailed. How can I enter all 4 people, to enable all 4 people to be searchable from the index.
So far I have entered the 1st person and then just entered the text into the ‘persons item notes’. But this does not make the other 3 names searchable.
Any ideas on the best way forward (apart from enter all 4 people as individual records).
If I understand what you are asking, you can simply add each of the 4 people as individuals to your database. You could make a note for each describing the four and indicating you are looking for possible connections to each other.
RM’s index is just that, a compilation of the contents of the Surname, Given Name fields of each individual’s record accompanied by Birth & Death (year only). No other locations are looked at when compiling said Index. The Find Everywhere search field (top right) is quick as an aid to finding folks for view/edit.
So your not including the given name or they all have the same given name? Where are you entering the info IF you don’t want to add the other 3 individuals? Don’t know if they would be searchable if you had add a designation such as ABC-1, ABC-2 etc
