Not only using the arrow keys BUT You can also make it happen by using a mouse and
Clicking on both names in the people list and the arrows by the person name…
Clicking on names in the people list only…
Clicking on Arrows by the persons name only
and even just highlighting everyone numerous times on on single page
in family view.
both in the family page and the pedigree view in RM 8 and RM 9.
Sorry a bit behind on the subject. I am on Windows 10, 64 bit. Using RM 9.
I pretty much just use the mouse, moving cursor on the screen. My most used screen in RM is the Family.
I move the cursor to a member, click on the person and that is when the error happens. It will do the error on single and double mouse clicks.
Just wanting to highlight the person with one mouse click will make error happen. On those times when the error is not happening all the time, as in following the suggestions from Nancy, having used the RM tools, and restarted the program, the error will not happen for a while.
When it does start happening I can single click, and it does not happen, but when I double click to open that persons profile up the error happens. It is when I stay in the program and not use the tools, that the error begins to occur more often and happens with just a single mouse click.
I am back home and using RM, and will start keeping more detailed log.
I was working through the index rather than the people list. I think that I was using the arrow keys heavily, although I certainly had problems clicking on people too, either in the index or on the family screen.
I had the same problem with ‘arguements out of range’
and I was advised by customer support to
Thank you for contacting support.
If you open RootsMagic 9 on the home screen in the lower right corner click on the option to update. This will be 9.0.5.0 Once you have that installed open your file then click on tools under database tools run each and see if you get the Arguement out of range
This problem did not start happening to me until I had version 9.0.5.0 … On advise of other users here, I use the RM Tools each day, sometimes several times a day if the Out of Range keeps happening. Followed by a reboot of RM, and I am off and running again.
I have found that I get the out-of-range error after I have been working on my file for a while.
I get the error when I select a new person in the person view. I can still edit that person with no problem, but if I select someone new, I get another out-of-range error. I think the problem is the History list is too full. If I close RM and restart or clear the history list, I stop getting the error.
Maybe RM can tell me how many names can the history list hold at one time?
