RM supports hints from four sites - Ancestry, FamilySearch, MyHeritage, and FindMyPast.
Ancestry and FamilySearch provide a mechanism called an API (Applications Programming Interface) by which RM and the site can exchange data. MyHeritage and FindMyPast do not provide any sort of similar mechanism. This is not the fault of RM. The RM developers have stated that if in the future MyHeritage or FindMyPast provide such a mechanism, then RM will support it.
In the meantime, for MyHeritage hints or for FindMyPast hints about your only option is to read the MyHeritage screens or the FindMyPast screens and to type the information into RM yourself. Sometimes doing a copy and paste can help, but it’s still a manual process. I do use MyHeritage and I don’t use FindMyPast. In the case of MyHeritage, I type the information in myself and I also do screen shots of MyHeritage screens and use those screen shots as my media files.
As a RM7 user, I hope RM developers do not restrict the access to webhints FindMyPast or MyHeritage by using API and thus taking away the ability to get information from these sites within RM7. I personally don’t want to copy from these sites for the most part, although I understand that others might like to be able to contribute to them. Being able to see these sources from with RM7 is important to me as I add new data to my database. Do we have any idea of how many of the people subscribed to this list are, like myself, using versions of RM earlier than the RM8, RM9, and RM10. I hope to never be forced to have to upgrade to the new series for basic data entry, although I use RM10 everyday to access FamilySearch.
As to whether to use the latest version of RM, the transition from RM7 to RM8 was a complete rewrite of the program. At the same time, it was a major redesign of the user interface.
Some users like the new user interface. Some users don’t like the new user interface. For some users, the dislike of the new user interface is a strong enough reason to stay with RM7.
I think that staying with RM7 vs. moving on to RM8/9/10 is a very personal decision. I think it’s entirely rational to stay with RM7 if that best meets your needs. I also think it’s entirely rational to move on to RM8/9/10 if that best meets your needs.
