In my tree my Grandfather’s year of death is shown as 1942 in the people list but his actual year of death was 1957 which is showing correctly in his individual record. Ho can that be possible and how can I fix this error?
There are a couple of possibilities. One possibility is that there are actually two death facts for your grandfather, one for 1942 and one for 1957. Another possibility is that at some point in time your grandfather’s death was listed as 1942 and later was corrected to 1957. This could even have been a typo that you corrected immediately. In some cases, corrections in the individual record do not show up immediately in the people list. Well, a third possibility is that your grandfather’s date of death has some sort of subtle error such as 12 Jux 1957 rather than 12 Jun 1957 or 12 Jul 1957. But I doubt that you have that kind of error.
In any case, the way to fix the problem is first to be sure that there is only one Death fact and that the date is in a valid format. Then run the tool to re-index your database, viz., File > Tools > Rebuild Indexes.
