Importing Notes from Ancestry

I’m assuming that notes from Ancestry get downloaded into the Gedcom file (at least I see them when I import into another software I have). But how to I access them in RootsMagic and is there a way to include them in a report that has a pedigree chart.

Also, I know that media files don’t get downloaded (photos, imported gallery files, etc.) However, if there are weblink under the “facts” is there a way to have the URLs show up in a printout?
Thanks in advance!

Use TreeShare in RM to download your Ancestry tree with media, notes, etc.

It’s better to use TreeShare since it will link Ancesty tree & RM, while gedcom doesn’t.

If you have a census image on Ancestry, it will be connected to the Citation when downloaded.
Watch the video on RM website to see how it works.

Thank you! I will check this out.

Ok, so I managed to do TreeShare, which was great. But how do I get the Notes to appear in a report? And which types of reports will include them? My goal is to print a basic summary with pedigree chart and include the notes that I have for the various people. In a perfect world that would include the media, but I won’t be that ambitious!

The Pedigree Chart won’t include notes. The individual summary would give you everything on a person including notes. The narrative report would be another option too.

Thank you for this! I did figure out I could print a report of “Everyone” in the tree with that. Do you know if there’s a way, or a type of report that will include URLs that are listed under Ancestry “sources”?

Depends on where the URL was added. If its part of the footnote it will appear there. If its a WebTag added to the source/citation it won’t show on the footnote. You could run a WebTag list for just sources or citations to see them.

Thanks. Please forgive my ignorance, but where would the footnote be on Ancestry where I would put a URL? I see the web link option for source citation (where I did not put the links). But I was referring to the “Add Web Link” option under sources on the Ancestry profile pages. I’m guessing “run a Web Tag” list" is an option in RM9 then…?

Added from Ancestry the “Add Web Link” option URL under sources becomes a Citation WebTag in RM. You would find it under “Citation Detail text, media, etc.”.
