This is a new feature advertised on the release of RM10 for which I’d seen nothing more said about it. I’m aware of fields in the NameTable for Display, Language and MP versions of the Name fields. And I see that on editing a file that migrated to RM10 from an earlier version that there is a field named Display in the Edit Person.Name pane to choose between the conventional Given Surname order and the reverse order, Surname Given, that results in the NameTable.Display column set to 0 or 1, respectively and populates the SurnameMP and GivenMP and NicknameMP columns replicating what’s in the table’s non-MP columns.
Those findings led me to search Help and found, way down in the page “Editing a Person” in the section titled “The Edit Panel”, paragraph “6. Facts”, second-last bullet “Name Fields”, this:
A name fact will also have a Display option to choose how to display the name (in some cultures a person’s name is displayed with the surname (or family name) first).
I guess that’s all there is, so far, to the marketing feature “Customize the display of names for different cultures” from which I expected more. Maybe the new, dormant Language column and those MP name columns hold out some prospect for further enhancement.
