I have come across a problem that I don’t quite understand. I have two people that each show their spouse twice on the person’s page under their name. I deleted the entire marriage fact and they both still show two spouses (duplicated) under the persons name on each others page. I have attached a screen print of only one of those people with this posting (Anna Maria Hoff shows Johann ‘Georg’ Holschuh twice under her name). This screen print was before I deleted the marriage fact. After deletion of the fact the names remained. I even quit RM11 and restarted it after deletion and the names remained in duplicate. Things that make you go, hmmm, and also say other things, unmentionable in mixed company! Thanks in advance for your help in these matters.
if you turn RIN you will be able to confirm there are same person (or if diff RM ID)
different names but for illustration
go to settings and enable RIN
this will help for lots of things
If the RIN numbers are different, you will need to merge the duplicate people.
If the RIN numbers are the same, then the people have been linked together twice as spouse. They will need to be unlinked once but not twice.
The Marriage fact really has nothing to do with the issue. People can be linked as a couple (called “spouses” by RM) with or without a Marriage fact. But after you get the couple merged (if the RIN’s are different) or unlinked once but not twice (if the RIN’s are the same), you will need to add the Marriage fact back in.
Sometimes this can occur when Parents are “individually” added to a child, instead of a child being added to an existing Couple. Most often, it’s the use of the + Add Father and + Add Mother capability. Essentially what happens is that two family groups wind up being created for the same pair of Spouses. One having just a child or two AND the other having all the rest of the children.
I find the new life summary view can be quite helpful (as you probably know - directed to others who might not)
Absolutely agree about the life summary view - it’s made correcting problems like this so much easier!
also true for children and fixing for correct family (add/unlink)
I have found the enthusiasm for the wonderful new Life Summary View to be very interesting. I agree that it’s totally wonderful, and it’s the view that I use in the side panel nearly all the time. But the interesting thing to me is that I don’t find it to be new at all. Rather, it seems to me to be more of a rebranding of a feature that was already there called simply the Family Tab in the sidebar. It was the tab I used in the sidebar even before the Life Summary View was introduced into RM11.
I will grant you that there are some differences. For example, the Life Summary View has three sub-panels and they are collapsible. The old Family tab only had two sub-panels and they were not collapsible. So the Life Summary View is an improvement with its extra sub-panel and with the sub-panels being collapsible to make more room for the other subpanels . But nevertheless, the ability to see a person’s spouses and children along with the person’s parents and siblings was already there. It was great before. It’s even better now. But I don’t think it’s all that new. Maybe the rebranding just got everybody’s attention, and in a very good way. ![]()
The old Family Tab was even there back in RM7, and it was the view I used in the sidebar most of the time even then. But it was missing in RM8. I can’t remember if it came back in RM9 or if it was in RM10. But it did come back. But it is now even better as the Life Summary View in RM11. Life is good.
it was more hidden and subtle previous to your point.
One wish / enhancement (@rzamor1 ) I would like to see is either life span or DOB/DOD for children / spouses
Thanks to everyone for all the help. I was able to square this problem away and now I must search the rest of my database to see haw many times I have recreated this same error. Again thanks to all for the suggestions and fixes.
Someone might have a more sophisticated solution but this will help – create a group like this
it should narrow the field but give you a lot of false positives

Confirming request has been reported to development.
