Tree share not downloading images from Ancestry sources again in V 11.1.1 again

So frustrating! The new Ancestry tree I created in V 11.1.1 from a pre 11.1.0 backup to ‘fix’ the above issue originally worked. However on downloading a lot of individual updates from Ancestry today I discovered that the problem has returned. Goodness knows how many individuals are impacted. Has it become Ancestry policy to restrict the downloading of document images we have paid to view? Or is there still a serious issue with RM and the new API?

I have also experienced this issue, sorry to say I’m glad it’s not just me. I’ve been trying everything I can think of to try and get it to work but it seems isolated, I had someone else try adding a new profile to their tree and attach citations with images on Ancestry but they said it worked properly for them, when they downloaded the citations.

Confirming issue has been reported to development.

Hi John

I suspect that we’re not the only ones, sorry to hear that you are affected too. I thought that I had followed the instructions to rectify the problem after making the mistake of downloading the update (11.1.0) when it first showed up and then treesharing wth Ancestry.

I do virtually all my research in Ancestry and usually add all my new information from other sources (government databases, etc) there first along with any new media I find (certificates, etc). Now that the UK GRO sell instant access JPGs of 19th and early 20th century birth and death certificates for £3 each I tend to buy quite a few each month. Sort of going back to doing it the old fashioned way. Strangely any media I upload to Ancestry comes back down to RM when I treeshare but any media owned by Ancestry and attached to their sources doesn’t come down (although the source does).

After the initial debacle I created a new clean database in RM 11.1.1 and downloaded my Ancestry tree into it that all went smoothly for a while but the problem returned so I now have 2 impacted databases.

Hopefully RM will sort the problem but I did a significant amount of work tracing DNA matches with ThruLines and adding all the links to my tree and I don’t know who is affected. On top of that I spent 2 days manually re-entering my DNA matches in RM as they cannot be transferred or copied from 1 database to another. Might have to do that again depending on the suggested ‘fix’

Think I’ll spend time today seeing if I can work out who was changed in the past few days, seem to remember there is a way of doing that.

Hope all is good with you and Happy Easter.

Charlie
