I have lines in my tree that go back way beyond 7 generations. A few go back 22+. I often want to see the big picture on these, for which Descendant View looks ideal BUT it cuts off at 7 generations - and I can’t set that higher!
This is frustrating since I have enormous amounts of blank screen space. I realize that not everyone will have so much, but they can pan, or scroll, or just set the limit low.
I seldom run Descendant View with more than 3 generations. I find more generations than that overwhelms the screen. And I don’t think the difference between my situation and yours is the screen size per se. The thing that seems different to me and that makes it an interesting request is that you are looking at distant generations where there is only one child per generation and you are simply following son to father all the way back, sometimes with a mother who is known and sometimes not. So on its face, I would see no reason for more than 7 generations since I never use that many anyway. But in the context of your use case, your request does make a lot of sense.
The feature I really want for Descendant View is to the ability to add one more generation and only to get the new children in the new generation without also getting the spouses of the new children in the new generation. In other words, the view I’m looking at doesn’t have enough generations, and if I add one more generation I have too much to look at. Adding the new generation of children without also adding their spouses would sometimes be the Goldilocks scenario for what I need to see.
