Search on media file name or caption

In RootsMagic 11, is there a way to query and search for file names and captions?

I ask because I was an Ancestry user before I became a RootsMagic user, and I have a large number of media files with the unhelpful Ancestry names.

Thanks!

Well the best practice in my opinion is to manage media not let ancestry an treeshare do that.
I identifying the files is only part of it – you also need to know where/what they are linked to (People, facts, citations, places and so on). I learned when I came to RM 5 years ago I should have done that years before but thought it was going to be too much effort – in the long run its not see related thread

The Media page search box will use the filename and/or caption.

Yes, of course. The Ancestry tree linked to my RM one pre-dates my use of RM by a number of years. I have thousands of U.S. Census images (to name only one type) with nothing but the Ancestry numeric names. I’d like to clean up my file names and insert brief captions in English. Before giving up on this stretch goal, I’m exploring means to make the search easier.

Since the file names can be sorted numerically in the media list, right now this seems to be way to group Census images. Still a very slow fix, though.

Don’t do what I did in the start, kids. Too smart, too late.
