RM9 Sharable Drive - Later Updates

I want to share my Roots Magic 9 with my sister. She has no need to edit, so I figure a sharable drive is the way to go. I plan to send her a thumb drive with the shareable file on it.

Later, if I have significant updates to my database, I plan to send another drive to replace the older data. What must my sister do on her end in order to upload the newer drive? She is good at following directions on her computer, but no as good problem solving.

She can install the RM Essentials.

Depending on how large your file is, you can email the database to her. Any new changes you make, you can send her the newer one and she just needs to save it and overwrite the old one.

If you are sending her the media too, you will probably need to send a flash drive to her. Email has size limits.

If media is not a concern you can share database (possibly by email if database is small enough)

Something like Google Share drive, dropbox or OneDrive has options.

If sharing with media – you would need to share a folder (containing everything ) or physically provide flash drive with media and database

Google file transfer services to find free or reasonable ones:
dropbox transfer free trial/250GB.
pcloud free 5GB
transfernow free 5GB…250GB $6/month

I use Transfernow.net all the time. notice its .net not .com. You do not need to subscribe or pay $6/month. It is limited to 500 files or 5gb. If you have over 500 files, simply transfer the folder you want and it will include all of the subfolders or you can send individual folders. Folders with all the files act like one file. They simply make it a zip file which needs to be unzipped on the other end.

There are some other deals –
Google 100gb $1.99 per month
OneDrive 100gb (~$20 per year) ( I get a bonus 50 gb through my mobile plan 150gb)

I think you are quoting storage and not file transfer service.

Thanks for the ideas on how to transfer.
From what you all have suggested, I will have a number of methods to use; I only have just over 1,000 people in my database.
