Printing Options

I have reviewed previous questions without an answer. When I print anything over 2 pages, it only will print double sided. What and where am I missing in settings to print single pages and not double sided? I get options to select when printing anything but I don’t know where to select that option under publishing reports & print.

These types of symptoms are hard to isolate sometimes. Does saving to one of the document formats and printing from within their associated program(s) act the same?

@pechu6973 Printer behavior is generally controlled through the operating system driver, and not through an application like RootsMagic.

You don’t mention your operating system, but one of your other posts indicates that you use a Mac. I’m not directly familiar with the MacOS, but I can give you some general guidance.

According to this Mac User Guide page, printers are controlled in the “Printers & Scanners” area under System Settings. (Apple menu > System Settings > Printers & Scanners).

Go into that area and open up the printer that you have connected. From there, you can browse through the various settings for the printer. Look for an option that says something like “Print on both sides”. If it’s enabled, that means your printer will always print any multi-page document that way, whether it’s coming from RootsMagic or some other application.

Here’s what that kind of setting looks like on my Windows 11 printer, where I’ve highlighted the “Print On Both Sides” option:

If you want to leave printing behavior as double-sided by default, but sometimes print single-sided, you can control that through the print dialog, per this other Mac User Guide page.
