Place names with diacritics aren't entering properly in events - Bug

When I am entering a place name in an Event and the place name has a diacritic in it the pop-up list will automatically fill in a place name, no selection box, it just fills it in. Then I have to manually backspace delete the text that was filled in (it’s never the place that I’m trying to enter) to get back to the (usually) two letters that I’ve typed to get the selection box to pop up. Also, if the place starts with a diacritic nothing at all pops up even if I type several letters of the place name.

Examples: Åker, Bro, Göteborg och Bohus, Sweden, no selection box or place will come up when I type Åker

These two are in my Places: Fjäl, Svarteborg, Göteborg och Bohus, Sweden and Fjärås, Halland, Sweden. If I type Fjä it will autofill (not just highlight fill) with the Fjäl one and not give me a pick list to choose the other one. I have to delete back to the Fjä and then it gives me the listing.

This was never a problem in RM7 so something was broken along the way. I have a ton of place names with diacritics so this is a really annoying little bug.

I might be wrong – I do not think places changed (whats in the Places DB)- but the way text (ended char set) was handled may have since RM7. I do not recall the details I am sure someone might recall if/when that changed

I’d add another “anomaly” about how Places are sort-ordered. The Place field (Edit Person window) “filters” the typed chars ascending alphabetically with diacritics sorting “after” non-diacritics. The Places menu screen “filters” the typed chars ascending alphabetically with diacritics sorting “before” non-diacritics.
