The feature which says how I’m related to a given person is nice, but I need to see how to determine who our common ancestor was. In FamilyTreeMaker, I could get a complete generation-by-generation path, thought that I did so some time ago in RM8, but am unable to do so now.
Have you tried the Kinship Report or Relationship Chart?

In the People screen, go to the tools symbol top right hand corner and select relationship calculator.
