TreeShare Update Notice (RootsMagic 11.1.1)
We’ve released RootsMagic 11.1.1 to fix an issue affecting TreeShare in 11.1.0.
Who is affected?
- If you have not installed version 11.1.0, you are not affected.
- If you installed 11.1.0 but have NOT used TreeShare yet, simply update to 11.1.1 before using TreeShare, and you’ll be fine.
- If you used TreeShare in 11.1.0, you may notice some citation links are no longer connected (shown as pink citation icons).
What happened?
Due to changes in how Ancestry handles citation identifiers, some citation links (between RootsMagic and Ancestry) could be lost when using TreeShare in version 11.1.0. Version 11.1.1 fixes this issue going forward.
If you used TreeShare in 11.1.0, and are seeing a lot of extra pink citation icons where the citations appear to be matching
This means some citation links were affected. You have a couple of options depending on your situation:
Option 1 (Best option – if you have a backup)
- Install RootsMagic 11.1.1
- Restore a backup made before you used TreeShare in 11.1.0
- Go to Settings > WebHints > Reset TreeShare
- Reconnect to Ancestry and allow your tree to download changes again
Option 2 (If no backup is available)
You can either:
- Upload your RootsMagic file to a new Ancestry tree, or
- Download your Ancestry tree into a new RootsMagic file
This issue only affects citation links (not your people, facts, or media), and it only occurs if TreeShare was used in version 11.1.0. Updating to 11.1.1 prevents the issue going forward.
