When I opened RM today, my list of names now has over 20 individuals listed as follows:
+,14785
The 14785 if the RIN. When I click on the entry it opens the person and there is a name attached to the RIN.
I’ve already run all of the tools and it did not fix this issue.
I opened an older file and the Index is correct but the people view has these numerical entries.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
The + sign suggests Alternate Name facts exist for those RIN.
The + sign followed by a space character might be a comma is entered in the Surname field (no space character would be comma in Given). Something ~like~ that anyways.
The non-edit option is the three-dot menu for Index (to toggle off the display of Alternate Name).
I would just delete the blank Alternate Name facts on the Edit Person screen. Don’t delete it while in the index because you would delete the person. You can turn them off like kbens0n said.
Index numbers and people - I have the same issue as mcphilbrick. Looking further into the issue not only do I have the number in the index, I go down further to find the actual persons info. When deleting just the number I lost everything for the named person also in the index, because their rin number is the same. If I right click on the number it will give me the name of the person. I go to that person which tells me I have two "Primary names one of which I cannot delete. I have no clue how the numbers only got on to my index. I Sure would like to clean this up by not loosing anyone. Thanks, Lori
Create a new Alternate Name and make it Primary. This will make the old Primary names Alternate names which can be deleted. Delete the one you don’t want and make the remaining Primary and delete the Alternate name.
Thanks! I deleted the alternate name facts and that cleaned up the index listings.
Tried your suggestion and i get “You can’t delete the primary name”

You need to add a temporary Alternate Name, set it as Primary which will set the two Primaries to Alternate, then set one of them as Primary which sets the temp back to Alternate which you can then delete along with former Primary.
