I have entered birth and death dates (d, m, y) for an ancestor. Both facts appear on the ancestor’s person/fact page, but birth year is missing from the summary in the upper left corner (i.e., -1960 rather than 1880-1960). Moreover, when I view the ancestor in pedigree mode or include them in narrative in RM9 (and now in RM10), only the death date shows. I have tried re-entering the birth data, upgraded to RM10, rebooted my PC, etc, etc. Suggestions? Thx!
Check and make sure that you do not have two birth facts.
Can you show a screen capture of the Edit Person window for the person?
Thanks, everyone, for your willingness to assist. Turns out that I did have a second birth fact, without any date, lurking at the bottom of my long list of facts. Drats. Deleting that allowed the birth year stuff to appear everywhere it should appear. Thanks BobC!
One other scenario sometimes preferred fact of two might override what is desired.

I ran into this exact issue once myself. It turned out my ancestor had two birth facts — one complete and one blank — and RootsMagic couldn’t figure out which to show. Deleting the extra (empty) birth fact fixed it instantly. Also make sure the correct birth fact is marked as “preferred,” and double-check the date format. If all looks good, run the database tools under File > Tools > Database Tools to refresh everything. That usually clears up any stubborn display glitches.
