I’m new to Rootsmagic. Not sure if this has been asked before. When I tree share to Ancestry it opens a new empty file. Then nothing
Are you trying to upload a new Ancestry tree or download one? If you are downloading it should first create the file.
Hi Francesha, We’ll need a little more info to help. I am guessing that you are trying to download your tree from ancestry into a new RM db. The steps are File, Create a new RM file, Download an Online Tree, from Ancestry, then define the location and name of the RM file. RM will displaythe list of ancestry trees that you have rights to connect to. There’s a login process before that last step. Perhaps you could add a screenshot so that we can see exactly where you are in the TreeShare process.

I click on the tree share for ancestry. A new empty database pops up seperately. What I am wondering is there supposed to be an empty database opening or is it supposed to work like FamilySearch, etc and open in my main database?
You have to create an empty database before before running TreeShare so that RM has a place to put your Ancestry data as it downloads.

Just enter a Name for database & you will get the list of trees on Ancestry to select from to download.
