Invalid Ancestry login message

Hello. After using RM9 very happily for a long while, I recently had to change to a Linux PC. Thanks to a Cyber Monday deal, I have purchased Crossover, and have successfully installed RM7 (later versions just refused to install, and my Linux knowledge doesn’t extend to sorting that out). I’m happy to settle for RM7 as long as I can sync it with my Ancestry.co.uk account BUT the Ancestry Sign In window in RM just keeps pinging back with “Invalid Login. Please make sure your login and password are correct.”
I have triple checked that my login details are correct. I have disabled 2 step verification for my Ancestry account. I’m now at a loss as to what to do next. Could it be that the sign-in screen is trying to log into ancestry.com but my login is only valid for ancestry.co.uk? Any advice most welcome! Thanks.

@Strone Unfortunately you can’t use Ancestry or Family search with RM 7 due to their new 2 step verification— you have to use RM 9 OR RM 10

Ancestry & FamilySearch have official turned off their old login procedures that RM7 & RM8 used. RM9.1 or higher use the new OAuth technology supporting two-step verification now needed.

Official turn off dates: Ancestry (11 Dec 2023), FamilySearch (3 May 2024)

RM is not supported on Linux. There are a several issues others have reported in Community trying to get RM to work on Linux. Test using RM10 Essentials if Ancestry and FamilySearch logins work on Linux.

Ah, that’ll be why. Many thanks.

I hadn’t realised that. Many thanks for the prompt response.

That’s a good suggestion, thank you. As I say, RM8 & RM9 were coming up with some sort of memory error, and not installing at all, but I didn’t think of trying RM10 Essentials as an experiment.
