Hallo,

in der Geschichte Oberschwabens in Süddeutschlands gibt es in den Ortsnamen durch die Geschichte viele Veränderungen, die in FS nur rudimentär als Standard-Places nachgeführt sind.

So ist der Ort Fleischwangen bei Ravensburg bis 1876 immer noch Östereichisch, obwohl sich das bereits 1815 durch den Wiener Kongress zum Königreich Württemberg kam.

Bei einer Geburt z.B. 1850 bleib nichts anderes übrig, als den Ort “Fleischwangen, Landkreis Ravensburg, Baden-Württemberg, Deutschland” einzutragen.

Ich haate versucht, durch “search/replace Places” zu normieren, was prompt beim Abgleich mit FS als “fehlerhafter Ort” reklamiert.

Wie kann man erreichen, dass in Abhängigkeit vom Geburtsdatum, der historisch richtige Ort eingetragen wird?

Wie kann die https://gov.genealogy.net/ -GOV Datenbank integriert werden, so dass wenigstens in RM korrekte Daten vorhanden sind.

FamilySearch hat wohl auch in Kooperation mit gov.genealogy.net die Daten zumindest teilweise verbessert.

die verbesserten Places müssen jedoch in RM11 händisch per FS-Browser übernommen werden und zwar je Person und EVENT einzeln.

Warum bieter RM nicht wie bei den Personen ein

AutoMerge oder mindstens Merg Duplicates an?

Realisiert ist nur ein Manual Merge.

This is not the answer you want to hear, but I turned off RM’s County Check feature years ago and I make very limited use of RM’s Gazetteer feature.

It is an extremely difficult problem to get good information about historically correct place names. I rely on doing the process manually and using resources and tools outside of RM.

Most of my place names are American rather than European, but the problem is the same either way. Namely, place names change constantly over time, and it’s hard to find good sources for the information.

You have the additional problem of trying to sync up with FS where other users can undo your good work. I’m mostly just worried about getting accurate place names in RM itself.

yeah – I think RM attempted to use a decent source for timeline of places. Not sure how reliable it is – but ultimately I would personally rely on sources outside of RM to find. This is on my todo list maybe I will get to by end of 2026.
