Import from RM9?

I am starting to use my Personal Historian and was unable to import data from RM9. Are there plans for the addition of this ability?

To import RM9 into Personal Historian use the GEDCOM option. Inside RM9 go to File, Export Data, GEDCOM file to create one.

Or, here’s a thought, maybe RootsMagic could update it so its compatible with the current file structure…

yes – I considered buying before I realize needing to use GEDCOM – its the same family of software so I am not sure why they haven’t.

I presume that direct file compatibilty with RootsMagic 11 (and possibly 8-10) would require a complete re-write of the software using the current software development tools, plus, for consistency, providing a macOS complied version.

Clearly considering the development time required and investment cost of transtioning from RootsMagic 7 to to 11 (which is essentially RoottsMagic 8, version 4), it doesn’t suprise me that development time hasn’t, so far, been available to transition the other in-house software.

Obviously, no early announcements are likely to be made, given the agonising waiting time for RM8 to actually appear (over 2 years, during which new RM7 purchasers were guaranteed ‘free’ upgrades).
