Importing individual records from other genealogy programs

Is it possible to import individual records, including citations and media into RootsMagic from FTM 2019, Ancestry and My Heritage?

Not directly from the RM user interface. If the other software supports exporting a GEDCOM file for an individual with the supporting evidence, RM could import that file. Alternatively, export the entire tree to GEDCOM and import it into a new RM database. Then drag’n’drop the selected individual from it into your target database.

That said, the GEDCOMs do not contain the media files, only pointers to them. For apps having those media files on the same computer as the RM app, RM may readily link with the media. For Ancestry and MyHeritage web services, you would have to download the media separately, or, in the case of Ancestry, use TreeShare instead of GEDCOM to get the entire tree with media into the intermediate RM database.

Tom made some great points — normally Sqlite offers some options – however none of the programs have an open database so that is not really an option

You might be able to use a GEDCOM tool & then bring in facts with a combination approach

Thank you both so much for your help and suggestions. Will have a play around and see what works for me.
