Are there plans to update Personal Historian so it can import RM8 files? And will the update included the capability to handle shared events correctly?

Yes, eventually we will have Personal Historian capable of a direct import of the RootsMagic 8 file extension. For now use a GEDCOM to import into Personal Historian. Inside of RootsMagic 8 go to File, Export Data, GEDCOM to create the file needed to import into Personal Historian and Family Atlas. I cannot speak to if we will eventually add support of shared events. I have reported it as a request.
