i use very much groups for selections, but i have question about the option of direct descendants only, in my opinion there can only be descendants with the same family name, so als de familiname go and not other familie members. because with me now is also a partner of a descent selected..
Is my line of thought here correct or not?
If your daughter marries Nicholas Pollitt and has children… they are your direct descendants with the surname Pollitt.
Why would the child of a married daughter, having the surname of its father, not be a direct descendant of its grandparents?

As the guys said you are going to have a lot of different surnames if you pick direct descendants – if you want the male direct descendants of a person (such as your father’s surname) you can make a group by picking the first known ancestor then Genetics-- Y chromosome–descendants of highlighted person…
