Extra data entry steps after 11.0.3.0

After the 11.0.3.0 update, I am now getting a weird page and extra steps in data entry whenever trying to add a source. Example: step 1 I select Misc. Source for example

Step 2 I add various details (again all for example):

Step 3: I click Next and get this screen instead of the subsequent page where I add the citation details.

Step 4: This forces me to select OK wherein I get this page and have to go through an extra step or two to complete

I’m on a Windows 11 machine and have had no problems until the update. Did something reset? Hopefully it’s something I can change to make it go back to the original state. Thanks!

Are you sure it’s the update that’s the issue?

There are two different workflows that can appear to be the same but are not.

  1. Make a new source and citation. Namely, select a source template, make a new source, and make a new citation.
  2. Make a new citation for an existing source. Namely, skip the part about selecting a source template and go straight to selecting an existing source, and make a new citation as with workflow #1.

The workflow you described is the one I called #1. I think the workflow you are looking for is the one I called #2.

I could be wrong and RM actually could have changed, but that’s my best guess.

To answer your first question, I’m assuming it’s the update because I use it daily and it happened right after the update. For the second question, it’s #1, where I am setting up a new source and citation. However, after I posted the question this morning, I found its happening for cases that fall under #2 now also.

See if enlarging the height of the Add Citation window makes a difference. Above the short footnote is a vertical bar with 4 dots. It can be adjusted. I think its been raised up all the way. If it won’t straighten out go to a main view in the program and use the key command Ctrl+Shift+U, select “Reset Column Widths”, close and reopen RM and see if that makes a difference.

That worked. I had to go “full screen” to move the bar down to see the dots. Thank you Renee!
