I inadvertently added a person as their own son. How do I fix this???

In Family View where he is the Parent, UNLINK him as Child.
And don’t do that again LOL. Carry on.

Making sure RIN is turned on - if you have Record # turned on it is normally clear there was a user error. The exact fix and shortest path might not be. Life Summary is one way to view things and fix many issues even (avail rm11+)

Easier just to delete the whole database and start over, again. But what about all the time you spent manually entering in DNA matches? Isn’t having a dupe free database worth it?
Rename the database then Restore an earlier version that had no duplicates. Don’t start from scratch.
The OP really did not have dupes just incorrect links that are easily fixed.
@iltolesjr on duplicates, almost every time UNLINKING will correct the issue–if you have a lot of duplicates, it may take a little time BUT still easier than starting from scratch or restoring another version especially if you have a lot of DNA matches entered manual-- If I had to ( very extreme case) I would delete the person and re-enter BUT that is a drastic step…
In the case above all you have to do is click on and highlight any one of the kids (Mack Acorn in my example below) and UNLINK the child from the parents once and they all are removed including the wives except for the very 1st father and mother

@rzamor1 To duplicate @206bones 's screenshot, I went in and added the person ( Mack Acorn in mine or Thomas Prence in theirs) as a child of himself on their family view using Select Existing person–just once-- so why did we end up with a child and a grandchild? And why did it change to this page instead of the normal page where it showed Mack’s parents then Mack and his wife and the child-- once you are on this page, you can change to any view BUT you can’t leave this page by using the arrows in any view–only by clicking on someone else in the index-- there is only one listing for the person and his wife in the index and this is a screenshot of the pedigree view

When you link a child to themself it will be a perpetual loop, going up and down the tree.

Thanks. Now I just have to figure out how to highlight a person. I guess clicking on a node is no longer acceptable.
In any View, just click on someone. Same for the Index. RootsMagic videos show how to move around in RootsMagic.
